Pod Tappa Leo, Life-saver if you’re a digital packrat Great app - I needed to quickly make space on a backup drive and I didn’t want to manually sort through the files.
I found this app after some research on the App Store, and was totally pleased with the amount of space it cleared up but mostly with the speed and ease of doing so. My only suggestion would be to allow it the ability while using multi-select to select files that are most likely duplicates from the same date or time. For instance, I had a folder “AIFFS” and a subfolder “AIFFS/instrument sounds” - Some of the files chosen using multi-select were from the AIFFs folder and some from the AIFFs/Instrument Sounds folder. I would have liked multi-select to choose all the duplicates in the AIFFs folder so I could leave the instrument sounds folder intact. Very useful app, highly recommended except for this one UI tweak. If i could pay for it I would. Is there a way to donate?.UPDATE: I think I now understand why the app is completely free.
Using a virus scanner, I discovered that this app contained several adware components that were caught. I recommend running your preferred antivirus to see if it flags your app as it did mine. I just uninstalled it - although I found it useful, I’m not willing to risk my computer and files. Just add two more features: I just wish I could verify that its the same file by seeing the file size of the duplicates without clicking the link to the file. I’ve been checking for duplicate images on my system and hoping that there’s not a thumbnail sized version with the same name as the original file. Also, in the “multi select duplicates” option, handy though it may be, it doesnt select the original file but the one with the word “copy” within the filename. I know I can batch rename the files but it would have been nicer to choose the original file with the original filename. Other than that.
Huge time saver. I find it preferable to use over DupeGuru. Alxart, Pretty good! Thetadbeys, Quickly Cleans up Files My photos have gotten completely out of hand. I was looking for a simple app to help me clean up duplicates and expediate the process of organizing them all.
Duplicates cleaner is very simple to download and use. I’ve saved 8.8 GBs on one computer and am still counting on another. I love that it shows you exactly where each duplicate photo resides and gives you a side by side comparison to confirm the photos/files are in fact duplicates. And it deletes them all to the trash can so you can take one final look before permanantely deleting the duplicate files.
